Local Love Orlando has been a movement with dual purposes: making artwork that celebrates Orlando, and hosting fundraising events for local causes.
We gathered at CityArts Factory for our first Local Love Night (co-hosted with Macbeth Studio) to benefit Zebra Coalition. It was a beautiful night—hundreds of people from our community came out to show their love and raise funds for LGBTQ youth facing homelessness, bullying, isolation from their families, and physical, sexual and drug abuse.
CFCH: Rethink Homelessness
Every young person deserves a chance to succeed -- and that starts with a roof over their head. Our next Local Love Night was hosted at The Abbey to benefit the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness' 2017 Voices of Youth Count—a study to understand the extent of youth homelessness in Central Florida and identify who these young people are so that they can be helped/housed.
Fleet Farming is an Orlando-grown organization that support sustainable agriculture and increase local food accessibility. This third fundraising event was held at one of Fleet Farming farmlette sites, East End Market. The focus of the night was The Parramore Community. Parramore is currently classified as a low income food desert where fresh food accessibility is limited.
